Practice Director and Trainer—Project Management

In her role as Practice Director for Project Management, Sonja leads curriculum development and customization in project and program management.

As the primary project management subject matter expert for Rita Mulcahy's™ PMP® Exam Prep Eighth Edition, Sonja is currently working on the ninth edition. She co-authored PM Crash Course: A Guide to What REALLY Matters When Managing Projects, Second Edition, and is a sought-after speaker for regional and global project management and business analysis events.

Sonja has served as adjunct faculty at The University of St. Thomas' Center for Business Excellence. With over 20 years of experience, Sonja offers a wide range of real-world experience managing projects in IT, web technology, process optimization, usability and marketing, and brings extensive industry-specific experience in financial services, non-profit and transportation sectors.

Sonja is a Project Management Professional (PMP)®, a PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, a Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM), and possesses the Certification of Competency in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®). She also holds a certificate in Project Management from The University of St. Thomas.

As the Director of Business Analysis at RMC Learning Solutions, Barbara combines her entrepreneurial and management experience with her love of education and business analysis to promote the development of the business analysis practice. During her career Barbara co-founded two successful companies and worked in varied industries including manufacturing, financial services, and software development. Barbara has worked as a leader, manager, mentor, consultant, trainer, and technical writer. She has written numerous books, articles, blogs, and training manuals all aimed at helping other professionals enhance their skills. In 2010, she was named the Small Business Woman of the Year by the Georgia Women in Technology. In 2016 Barbara was elected to the International Board of Directors for the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).

Throughout her career Barbara has been passionate about enabling people and organizations to succeed through analysis. Analytical thinking allows organizations to increase their process efficiency and improve the quality of their products. Beginning her career in software development, early assignments allowed her to design systems which streamlined employee processes, increased the quality of information, and improved customer relationships.

Barbara's focus on critical thinking and increasing business value drove her to help define the business analysis profession. As an early IIBA Member, she worked on the development of the worldwide standard for business analysis, the BABOK® Guide.

Jeffrey S. Nielsen
Mike Griffiths, PMI-ACP®, PMP®, CSM
RMC Agile Project Lead & Consultant

Mike has a deep heritage in agile approaches. In 1994, Mike helped create the Dynamic Systems Development Method and has been using agile methods for the last 23 years. Mike has served on many industry boards including the Board of Directors for the Agile Alliance, the Agile Project Leadership Network, and as an original member of the PMI-ACP® Steering Committee. Currently, Mike is chair of the Agile Project Guide, a joint collaboration by the Agile Alliance and the Project Management Institute to develop practical agile advice for project practitioners.

Jean McKay
Faculty Instructor and PM Trainer

With many years working as an IT and project management professional, and well over 20 years in the training industry, Jean is an experienced professional with a proven track record in all phases of technical training. She currently holds over fifteen (15) professional training certifications in both Project Management and IT, and has spent decades teaching professionals how to do their jobs better, faster and more effectively.

Jean is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® ,PMI Risk Management Professional, and PMI Agile Certified Pratictioner, as well as Scrum Master and holds a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems. She is also certified to teach courses for a variety of Novell, Cisco, CompTIA and Microsoft, and ECCouncil certifications. Jean currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona, and is an active member of the PMI Phoenix Chapter.

Margo Kirwin
Margo Kirwin, CPLP®, PMP®, PMI-ACP®, PMI-PBA®

Margo is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® and a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), with over 25 years of experience in technology and technology training. She has a degree in Psychology, with a research emphasis on Learning and Memory. Margo has extensive experience in all aspects related to live training—including instructional design, course development, research, course delivery and course quality.

Margo has been actively managing projects for over 20 years, nine of which were spent as an independent consultant. Her industry-specific experience includes manufacturing, technology, training, financial services, and legal services. Margo has created and managed many project teams and has extensive experience building training departments from the ground up.

Elaine Marans
Elaine Marans, PMP®, CBAP®, PMI-PBA®
Faculty Instructor and PM Trainer

Elaine has been actively managing projects and programs for over 20 years, with a focus in Product and Process Design, Quality Management, R&D and Manufacturing. Elaine has worked in the private and public sectors, and has held project leadership positions in Asia, the Middle East, the United States and Mexico. Her industry-specific experience includes environmental engineering, marine engineering, rapid prototyping, agriculture, consumer products, and training; with specific expertise in performance and quality assurance testing, and failure investigation.

Elaine holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Toronto, a Masters of Arts in Education degree from Central Michigan University, a designation in Marketing from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), and is a PMI-certified Project Management Professional (PMP)®. She has designed and implemented quality management training across the globe, bringing real-world industry experience to various levels of business with the goal of enhancing innovation and reducing project costs.

Patricia Henao
Patricia Henao, PMP®, CPF, CSM
Faculty Instructor and PM Trainer

Patricia has over 25 years of project management experience, including the most recent 14 years as an independent project consultant managing a wide variety of projects, programs and portfolios. Her most recent work includes process optimization, continuous improvement / TQM, strategic planning, business model change, software development, and selection / implementation of projects and programs. She also possesses a solid track record of successful training and coaching in TQM and Project Management. Patricia has a degree in Management Science with an emphasis on Operations Research, and is both a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and a Certified Professional Facilitator.

Having lived abroad for the last 17 years, Patricia has spent thousands of hours training in both virtual and international environments—and has taught project management to students of over 25 nationalities. This invaluable experience has made her a versatile and adaptable educator, able to train within multi-cultural groups with a high degree of effectiveness.

Alicia Trelles-Ducket
Alicia Trelles-Ducket, PMP®

Alicia has over 20 years of experience in the project management field; 15 years deploying international projects for IBM Global Services and 6 years as a PMP® certification instructor in Europe. She has deployed Information and Communication Technology projects in the United States, as well as in Europe, Scandinavia, Latin America, and Asia.

The author of several International Projects courses, Alicia teaches in English as well as Spanish. During her years living in Great Britain, she contributed to program management research projects at Oxford University's Saïd Business School. Alicia is a Project Management Professional (PMP®) and is accredited in Intercultural Management and Organizational Change by The Hofstede Centre in Finland. She holds a bachelor's degree from Georgia Tech, a Master's Degree from Boston University, Brussels, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Global Business.

Nicki Kons is an Earned Value Management (EVM) and Risk Management global expert. As a consultant and trainer, she has been helping companies establish full, working Earned Value Management systems and enhance their existing EVM practices. A risk analyst by heart, Nicki is a consultant, workshop instructor, conference lecturer and researcher that works with international companies and leading risk management experts on a regular basis.

Nicki has a broad educational and professional background in Engineering, Business, and Political Science, which supports her efforts in integrating her knowledge and experience into a clear message of project management and risk management excellence.
