RMC Hires World-Renowned Business Analysis Expert Barbara A. Carkenord
BA Training Industry Founder Barbara A. Carkenord Joins RMC, Will Lead Newly Formed Business Analysis Practice
Minneapolis, MN (March 2, 2011)
RMC Project Management, one of the fastest-growing training companies in the world, has recently announced the hiring of world-renowned Business Analysis author, trainer and speaker Barbara A. Carkenord. Barbara will be responsible for all course development, product development, and educational delivery for RMC's new Business Analysis Training Practice.
Carkenord, one of the original founders of the business analysis training industry, has over 25 years of experience in business analysis. She has an MBA from the University of Michigan, and is both a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®). Carkenord is the author of the best-selling book, Seven Steps to Mastering Business Analysis, and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and chapter events. Actively involved in the IIBA, she was a core team member of the IIBA BABOK® creation committee and has contributed to its upcoming book, Managing Business Analysts. Carkenord was also recently named "Small Business Woman of the Year" by the Georgia Women in Technology Association.
The move to RMC Project Management represents a significant career change for Carkenord, who spent the last 10 years building her own market-leading BA training firm. "After leading my own companies for almost two decades, I realize how much time is required to 'run' a business—hiring and developing employees, managing finances, and monitoring operations," stated Carkenord. "But the more time I spent on these activities, the less I was able to pursue my passions like writing, teaching, and promoting the development of BA professionals. For me, being able to impact a larger number of people required significantly more resources, and a market-leading firm like RMC will provide them."
Eric Rudolf, Director of Marketing for RMC, believes Carkenord's decades of business analysis training experience will allow the company to develop an effective mix of BA offerings. "The biggest advantage to having Barb's expertise is that we can be sure to provide the exact training business analysts need," noted Rudolf. "Business Analysis is an emerging career, and Barb understands that certification resources are irrelevant if most people don't even know they do business analysis, or don't have the fundamental training necessary to qualify for the exam." Rudolf revealed that RMC's initial training focus will be on helping people understand how business analysis and project management fit together, and on the fundamental skills and concepts necessary to become a successful business analyst.
Tim Mulcahy, President and CEO of RMC, is excited about the hire. "I am extremely pleased that Barbara has become a member of the RMC team," said Mulcahy. "We expect her leadership of our Business Analysis practice to make RMC a dominant force in the emerging business analysis training arena, for decades to come."
"RMC is an amazing company, with a great employee attitude and a true sense of urgency when it comes to getting things accomplished," noted Carkenord. "When I was studying for the PMP exam, I asked every certified project manager I could find for their advice, and each of them recommended RMC. Brand recognition like this is extremely rare, and my goal is to bring the same quality of training and professional development opportunities to the business analysis profession."
